AFA Autumn Salon 2019
This building was at first the commercial headquarters of the company Jardine Matheson and then became part of the Ricci School since 1955 . It has Baroque-inspired architectural elements such as the decorations on walls and windows. Next to it is another property of Jardine Matheson Company with similar architectural style and colour. The wall surrounding the front garden and the buildings is covered with Chinese lazulite tiles on top, which forms a contrast with the western style buildings themselves.
Irregular window alignment is shown in this drawing to highlight that windows of the building were designed in different level heights of the interior staircase according to the principle of Functionalism, forms follow function.
The background behind the windows is painted in dark green mimicking the the night time environment with white paint splashing on top to act as stars.
