Orient Foundation Art Prize Finalist 2019
The building originally served as the court of Macau but is now temporarily used as a venue for art exhibitions and performances. In the coming future, it will be transformed into the central library. The three-storey Court building is in an Eclecticism style with facades made of Shanghai plaster and divided in clear horizontal and vertical sections. The stone steps and towering columns give the building a magnificent look A key design feature indoor is the internal staircases with handrails rolled in a very elegant “S” shape .
In the drawing, the stairs are extracted and placed at the main entrance leading outside to show its importance. The plants stretching out symbolize the unknown transformation process of the building that is undergoing. Floor tiles are drawn next to the stairs to demonstrate a merger of the unique interior and exterior architectural elements.
